I think this might just be my favourite Gibson boy book so far, it had me holding my breath at 11 pm at night and you might say that’s not late for us book addicts. But when your day job has you up at 3 am each morning and you are still glued to your Kindle at that time of night you know you are reading something outstanding and amazing. Adrianna Locke has given her heart and soul to these characters that we have all fell in love with but Hadley and Machlan’s story was so much more than I ever dreamed it might have been. A second chance love story that will move you like no other as you fight alongside the character and pray they can find there way back together again. I totally recommend this book that I received a free copy of and have voluntarily written an honest review. I love a broken man that needs fixing and this man just might need an army to show him the right road to take. This story broke my heart at times but also had me laughing out loud, yelling for Machlan to open is stupid eyes and had me loving the whole family with their love and support for each other.
Hadley Jacobs has tried her best to get over Machlan Gibson for the last few years but she can not take the next step with her current boyfriends, so she takes a break from Samuel and head on home to learn to Hate Him Machlan. He is the won stopping her to move on to her happy ever after. Friends since she was a teenager their road has had many ups and downs during this time but he is always the one to walk away.
Machlan Gibson has not forgotten his best friends sister Hadley since she has been gone and it has not been from his lack of trying that he has failed. He has his life looking better with his bar going well and a new idea in the works but when she walks back into his bar and sits down and orders a drink his whole world looks different. I am not worthy of her and I am not the man to give her what she needs and deserves.
Can they overcome the past between them and work at making a future together or will their stubbiness and regret hold them both back from there one true love in life?
Hadley Jacobs is over Machlan Gibson.
Sure, she’ll always be a little weak to the dimple in his right cheek and the way his five o’clock shadow makes him ruggedly handsome. But that’s not enough to cover every other thing about him because they all drive her nuts. Like how he won’t admit he’s wrong even when he knows it and how he drives his stupid car a million miles an hour on wet asphalt. As she rolls back into town and takes a seat at Crave, she won’t take the bait. She’s over him. Mostly.
Machlan isn’t over her.
It’s not because he hasn’t tried. He reminds himself over and over that she’s not the girl for him. After all, she drives him insane with her sassy attitude and the way she calls him out on everything. She beats him at poker, even though she doesn’t know the difference between a straight and a flush, and when she looks at him with her bright, blue eyes, it’s unnerving. When she climbs onto that bar stool and orders a drink, he puts it in front of her and ignores the sparkle in her eyes. He’s not over her, but she won’t know that.
But she does know that. And he knows she’s not as over him as she’s pretending to be. When life forces their hand this time, there’s more on the line than a pile of poker chips. It’s their forever.
