Any time is a great time to read a Shanna Hatfield book but a Christmas book in November is just the best to get you in the Christmas spirits. I just love a romance with an older couple and this one is one of the best I have read as it as, humour, wit, friendship, caring, family, must most of all love. Love knows no age in this story about two neighbours that find themselves attracted to each other. A wonderful holiday romance that will melt your heart and reunite us with Brooke and Blayne again from “Blown Into Romance”. I received an ARC copy of this great book and this is my honest and voluntary review that I would highly recommend to any romance reader.
Jess Milne is a rancher how lost his beloved wife a few years ago but has found as time goes by he has recovered from his loss and is looking forward to living the rest of his life being as happy as he can be. To be happy he believes his next steps will be with his very sharp-tongued and wife’s friend from next door Doris. She has the spirit to keep them both young and active in this great community if only she would see the attracting they both have for each other.
Doris Grundy has been a widow for more than 10 years and feels she is contented with her life on the ranch with her grandson and his new wife. The Milne family has always been a large part of her life and since the death of her friend Julia, Doris would call Jess one of her friends as well until about eight months ago. Now she keeps her distance as much as possible from the senile old goat from next door.
When Jess has knee surgery and needs help after his daughter has to return home their meddling children cause them to spend more time together.
Can two people that have both had a very happy marriage find love a second time around right next door?
Or will grief and guilt place a part in finding a second chance of love?
You're never too old to fall in love . . . Will over-the-hill neighbors embrace a holiday romance?
Rancher Jess Milne lost his wife years ago, but he’s finally ready to give love a second chance. It’s a shame the one woman in Romance who captures his interest is a prickly, wasp-tongued she-devil. She used to be one of his closest friends until he asked her out. Her vocal, vehement refusal made her thoughts on dating him crystal clear. Despite her animosity, Jess can’t help but be attracted to her fire and spirit.
Widowed more than ten years, Doris Grundy tries to convince herself she’s content with her life. Her recently married grandson and his wife bring her joy. The ranch she’s lived on since she was a young bride gives her purpose. She’s an active member of their close-knit community. But the old coot who lives down the road continually invades her thoughts, keeping her from having any peace. Doris will be the last to admit she longs for the love and affection of her handsome neighbor.
When the two of them are unexpectedly thrown together, will they find a little holiday spirit and allow the love of the season to ring in their hearts? Find out in this sweet novella from USA Today Bestselling Author Shanna Hatfield.
