Wow, I have a book hangover and can’t find my words to do this book justice in this review. Has to be one of the best books I have read all year. Wonderful, Amazing, Drama, Hot, Brilliant, epic, heart-ranching, Sad, Funny, Incredible, Awesome, Fantastic, Suspenseful, cliff-hanger, debut novel and a New Author to me are some of the words that come to mind. This is an epic story about Maddie/Laine Dobransky whom we meet at the start of this story with her at the age of 27 but soon go back to learn more about the 15-year-old Maddie as this story keeps alternating between past and present. This is a style I am not always in favour of but I must say this author does this style very well and it only adds too extra suspense to each and every chapter along the journey. I say the journey has this is the journey of Maddie’s life with the ups and downs mistakes and achievements that go along with life. I highly recommend this book to any romance reader that likes their books hot and suspenseful with great characters and drama packed chapters that will have you totally hooked on this book.
There are so many twists and turns in this book that you will just not see some coming and if you think you have it all worked out guess again the author will have you blown away with the secrets, mysteries, guilt and suspense. I am not going to give away any of the story or plot as this book review as you need to be able to read it with no knowledge of the storyline to be able to experience this book to the fullest but I will leave you with a few of my favourite quotes.
“I am convinced that you might be my forever girl. I’m willing to walk through fire to find out.
His lips brush over mine gently. There’s a pressure building in my chest. I can’t explain it, but it’s there. I’m stunned into silence as my mind blanks.
“Good night” he whispers, then turns and leaves the room.”
God, you’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever laid eyes on. You don’t have to ask me for anything. The moment I met you, I was yours.”
"Get in the back,” he says, his voice deep and rough.
My whole body tingles at the tone of his voice. He can’t be into the same stuff I’m into.
“Will you spank me if I don’t?”
“I’ll do anything you want me to if you get in the back of the damn car.”
“Dance with me.” I urged.
“Now?” His eyebrows drew together. “There’s no music.”
“You don’t need music when you have it in your soul. Sing to me.”
I fell in love with this cover at a Facebook party one day and shared it on my blog page. I was later contacted and thanked by the author and than her assistant with an offer of a free ARC to read and review. This is one of the main reasons I love to Blog it's to help authors and to discover the great talented writers in this great world of ours. The joy a get from reading is what keeps me reading and reading even when life gets in my way and work. When I am at work thinking about the book I am reading and wishing I could pick up where I left off keeps my time at work flying by.
Book one does finish on a bit of a cliff-hanger or you could say continue... but lucky for us book two is already out so we can get right back into the story straight away.
Sometimes bad decisions... are made for the right reasons.
I lost everything with the death of my bandmate—my privacy, my reputation, my career, and the love of my life.
I’m nothing but the living ghost of Madelaine Dobransky. Still, I’ve managed to make a new life for myself and build a successful business from the ashes. And even though my world is filled with guilt, secrets, and suspicion... it lies buried beneath the surface.
All I wanted was a tattoo. I didn't know that it would bring him—the one who watches—back into my life. Nor did I expect the tempting tattoo artist, Dexter McClellan, to lay claim on a place in my world. Dex wants to know me, to know the truth.
But I can’t let that happen. Because the truth is buried for a reason.
The truth will destroy me.
