How sweet it is to be back in Wishful and to have this friends to lovers romance story by one of my favourite authors to read on my lazy Sunday off work. This book can be read as a stand-alone or part of the series as all books within the “Wishful Series” are. If you love your books just like me with heartache, chemistry, strong male and female characters, strong writing styles, loving communities, small-town kindness, captivating plots, page-turner, sexy males, friendships, emotions, enjoyable but most of all totally entertaining Kait Nolan is the author for you. “Dancing Away With My Heart” is about how unrequited love as a teenager can play a very large part in your life then and now.
Lexi Morales returns home to look after her injured mother for a few weeks and one of the first people she runs into is the boy she first befriended when she moved to Wishful over 10 years ago. Zach Warren had been her best friend in high school and they both had a passion for Photography, but this friendship had slipped by the wayside when Lexi left town to go to college. Or should we say Lexi ran away to college after her final years of high school ended in a teenage heartache she was still trying to hide and forget to this day?
Zach Warren is happily growing his photography business in Wishful to which he is happy with his life, until one day he runs into his high school best friend. She is not how he completely remembered her being back then as she has grown up from the girl he knew to the woman he could not stop thinking unfriendly things about.
“You were best friends with one of the hottest girls in school. We just couldn’t figure out how you didn’t notice that back then.
He was noticing now.”
Zach offers Lexi some work while she is back in town they find they work well together, but both of them are feeling the difference in their friendship as they try to reconnect after all these years apart. Their High school 10 years reunion is coming up and Lexi is determined to not repeat high school again so she will not agree to attend with all her friends.
“What happened to us, Lex?”
You broke my heart and didn’t even know it.
She swallowed. “The same thing that happens to everybody eventually. We grew up, grew apart.”
I don’t want to be apart.”
Can these two find there a way to the truth at the same time or will the past stay in the past to keep them apart again?

Reunion Prom? Is this really a thing?
In Wishful it is. Lexi Morales never imagined her life would turn into the premise for a 1980s teen movie. But when her big high school trauma hit like a ton of bricks, she spent the next decade trying to hide the truth. After years of careful avoidance, she's back in town to care for her injured mother, just in time for the high school reunion she never planned to attend—a reunion that evokes memories she's tried to forget.
Wishful's friendly neighborhood photographer, Zach Warren, has no idea why he and his best friend drifted apart. But from the first, flashbulb moment he sees Lexi all grown up, she's all he can think about—and his thoughts keep straying right out of the friendzone.
Zach’s offer of temporary employment while she’s in town should be a perfect fit, but acting like she's never thought of him as more than a friend turns out to be harder than Lexi ever expected. All she wants to do is get through this with her secret—and her heart—intact. One thing's for sure: Lexi is NOT going to this prom.
But what if ten years is just the right amount of time for Zach to finally get a clue?
